Livery Outings and Events Before 2005
The records present a history of diverse and interesting outings and events hosted by the Livery Company before the year 2005. These activities encompassed a range of visits to places of interest, meals, and receptions held in different venues, and other cultural and social activities.
Visits to various historical and cultural sites, such as HMS Spartan at Faslane in Scotland, the Broadfield House Glass Museum, Himley Hall, and the Globe Theatre, among other places, were organized.
Buffet lunches for new Liverymen and their ladies at the Guildhall Club were held, as well as luncheons for members of the Court. There were also exciting tours like the London Two Cities Tour, which included a trip to the House of Lords, Westminster Abbey, and a river trip to Greenwich.
The company did not leave out educational activities; there were also visits to institutions like BT Research Laboratories at Adastral Park, Martlesham, Jesus College in Cambridge to see medieval glass in an old library, and an exhibition display at the British Museum.
Furthermore, some special occasions were celebrated in style, such as the summer receptions at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Kensington Palace, and St John’s Gate, Clerkenwell. In 1998, a post-banquet court and wives’ lunch were held with the presentation of original Charters.
